GovChat statement on Competition Commission referring Facebook for prosecution
GovChat welcomes the Competition Commission statement made on 14 March 2022. The Commission announced that it has referred, Meta Platforms Inc (previously known as Facebook Inc), and its subsidiaries, WhatsApp Inc and Facebook South Africa (collectively referred to as Facebook) for abuse of dominance to the Competition Tribunal for prosecution.

The article is based on a report issued by Open Secrets that unfairly tries to paint GovChat as a “data profiteer” and seeks to draw a number of adverse inferences about GovChat and its business model.

MEDIA STATEMENT | GovChat (PTY) LTD succeeds in having interdict application dismissed
GovChat welcomes the order of Judge Francis in the Cape Town High Court, handed down on 22 July 2021, in which Judge Francis dismissed an urgent interdict brought against GovChat by Silvergrey (Pty) Ltd. Silvergrey has also alleged certain rights in the GovChat platform, such claims similarly being defended by GovChat.
